Art Beijing focuses on classical and modern art and gives consideration to the continuation of traditional Chinese art to the present. It is the first classical and modern art fair supported by international brands in China. This art fair will be held in the national agricultural exhibition hall on May 3, 2013, solstice. In this year’s art Beijing expo, frogman art gallery will bring some of the latest works of artists to the audience to share and exchange the latest trends.

The exhibition will present Michael parks’ famous work《the Graces/Kharites》. It appeared in Dan Brown’s novel 《the lost symbol》. In the novel, there is a mysterious entrance to the basement of Carolloma. Behind the door is a painting full of classical style, which is called “The Graces/Kharites”. The Euphrosyne refers to the three Greek goddesses that respectively represent charm, elegance and beauty — Aglaia, the goddess of light Thalia, and Euphrosyne the goddess of joy. They are the daughters of Zeus and Eurynome, the singers of the gods, who bring beauty and joy to the world, and are closely connected with the Platonic view of love.

The artist’s obsession with Roman civilization led him to take an unprecedented interest in the difference between the “secular” Venus and the “sacred” Venus. The intuition and sensibility of Venus can make her more attractive, thus emitting more shining ideals and artistic beauty. Marcilio facino, a master of the arts and humanities, once wrote, “to care about Venus is human nature. Because human nature is the most beautiful goddess, born in heaven, the most favored by god. Her soul and heart are love and compassion, her eyes dignity and generosity, her hands generosity and magnificence, her feet grace and chastity. The whole is temperance and honesty, beauty and glory. Oh, how beautiful! And that established Venus. The graces/Kharites share many of the same qualities as Venus, which is the main reason why Michael created this painting. They bring order and harmony to a chaotic world, and she has the ability to turn things around. Dan brown, in his book the lost symbol, mentions the word ordo ab chao (Latin for “put wrongs to rights”). This coincides with the artist’s original intention of creating this classic masterpiece.
