The 10th China Art Fair (CIGE2014) will be held on October 10th to 13th (VIP preview: October 9th) in exhibition halls 1 and 2 of the Beijing national convention center. Frogman Art is honored to be invited to present a series of lithographs specially collected by artist Michael in the exhibition.

As a means of artistic expression, slate printing began in the early 20th century, when a group of artists were encouraged to engage in new media creation by art dealer Amberus Wald. Later, Toulouse Locke made a breakthrough in the research and development of plate printing technology, which provided a good reference for artists in the 20th century. Michael has always maintained a high level of enthusiasm for lithography, he was fascinated by the uncertainty in lithography creation. In the lithographic process, everything can happen: the color is too heavy, the original flaw in the stone, the initial etching is too light or too heavy… Since the paper had to be kept moist during the process, there was a strict time limit for each version to be completed, and Michael had to make a choice in a very short time. In this process, artists pay more attention to the present. With skillful painting techniques, the artist can accurately predict the final work before creation. At the same time, the variables and possibilities existing in the creative process provide various surprises for the artist’s creative path. This made Michael enjoy himself, and led to more creative thinking and collision of different inspirations. Michael used an average of 10 colors for each lithographic work, always maintaining an amazing degree of detail. He devoted his life’s love and creativity to slate printing, which is indelible for the contribution and significance of lithography art.
