Randy Puckett’s personal sculpture exhibition “Whale Spirit” will be exhibited at China World on September 23rd, 2014. The exhibition, planned by Yanli Wang, mainly displays the artist’s recent bronze sculpture of the humpback whale. The exhibition will last until October 14, 2014.

Randy Puckett graduated from the university of Weston and lives in a sunny house on California’s central coast. As a pioneer in the field of whale sculpture in the United States, the artist has always been sensitive to concreteness and thinking about objective existence. No matter whether the sculpture is large or small, he always insists that the sculpture be accurate, vivid and expressive. As an excellent art craftsman, Randy Puckett devoted himself to the investigation and research of the subject of creation. He constantly collects and studies photographs, films, videos and scientific literature on whales and dolphins, and often dives in the Orreco, North Pacific and Cotes seas to observe the movement and posture of whales and dolphins in marine environment. In the artist’s bronze sculptures, viewers will appreciate the growth and viability of whales and explore the perfect form and moving mode of marine life.

This exhibition advocates using artistic behaviour to call for social consensus and arouse people’s awareness and responsibility for Marine environmental protection. Whales, the world’s largest mammals with their huge size, are known as the ocean hegemony. When these mysterious sea creatures enter the art world, they seem always to be able to become the focus of people’s attention in a short time. We will explore the tense and delicate relationship between ourselves and the important lords of the sea world in the art world. The vivid whale image presented by the artist for us is both allegorical and alert to the greed of humanity, and advocates the establishment of harmony between human and nature.
