Biography

Ann Seifert has been sculpting since 1986.She has worked under two mentors: Janet Lederman and Loet Vanderveen, providing her with an education in sculpting technique, perspective and design spanning more than 20 years.

Ann’s figurative designs are inspired by capturing of a moment in time that reflects human frailty, strength, hope… any of the many different human conditions. The sculpture evolves as she begin to get a sense or feeling for the qualities that come to life through nuances in the pose. The slight movement of a shoulder up or over, a change in the tilt of the head, an adjustment of the torso or legs to accentuate or relieve tension. We are complex emotional creatures and our body language reflects this. The completed sculpture elicits from her the same emotional response she received from her original inspiration. It is this essence embodied in the sculpture that is so exhilarating to her.

In 1999, following years of work, she produced her first limited edition sculpture, “A Moment of Grace”. She now has a line of dramatic figurative sculpture on display around the country.

She has also introduced a line of animal sculpture. It is a delightful challenge to sculpt animals in a pose which displays something about its’ character…a loyal dog, a quiet attentive feline, an elegant swan…it is the challenge of capturing their essence that she loves.

Ann is greatly moved by the fact that her sculptures are now on display in homes around the world. She is very grateful to have the opportunity to create bronze sculpture and share it with others who resonate with its’ essence.
